Demo Checklist Overview
Evaluate entry into boat from dock. Note positioning of steps or walkovers.
Observe space and seating arrangement in both cockpit and bow areas. Evaluate bow comfort, accessibility and roominess. Sit in various seat locations and note seat contouring, overall support and comfort. Note traffic flow and leg room with all passengers seated.
Check useful storage for wakeboards, skis, coolers and other gear.
Sit in driver’s seat and scan the dash for instrument placement, visibility and ease of use. Check forward visibility over the dashboard. Note comfort and convenience of driver’s seat.
After leaving dock, have dealer demonstrate throttle smoothness and control operation. Bring boat to medium speed and note ride through gentle maneuvers. Evaluate engine noise level and listen for any power train vibration or tower noise.
Observe freeboard, depth of seating and dryness of ride in all conditions. Evaluate safety for children. With passengers seated, check location of drink holders and speakers. Will drinks easily spill onto passengers while underway? Are speakers obstructed by passengers and sound compromised?
Accelerate (set TAPS2 at the slalom setting for Tigé models). Note how quick the boat comes to a plane. Make several wake crossings and note ride comfort. There should be little or no flexing in the windshield walkthrough, dash area or seat bases.
In quiet water, set TAPS2 at wakeboard setting (8) and accelerate to 21 MPH. Observe wake size and shape without ballast. Maneuver to check handling. If equipped with factory ballast, fill ballast tanks and observe wake size. If possible, wakeboard behind the boat to evaluate wake weighted and unweighted.
While underway, adjust TAPS2 to slalom setting (1–2) while accelerating to 34 MPH. Observe slalom wake.
While cruising in rough water, adjust TAPS2 or trim stern–drive to optimize ride comfort. Evaluate ride. For other inboards, evaluate ride in rough water.
If boat is equipped with speed control, evaluate set–up, ease of use and speed–holding effectiveness. While underway, try changing the speed without taking your eyes off the waterway.
Ask a qualified driver to perform advanced turns and maneuvers to demonstrate handling and ride performance. (High performance boats require caution when performing advanced maneuvers. Prepare passengers in advance).
Allow all legal drivers in the family to drive in slalom, wakeboarding and cruising configuration. Evaluating handling and user–friendliness.
